COURSE INFORMATION

Course Overview

The Extended Diploma is broadly equivalent to three A-Levels

The following subjects make the course content:

  • Principles of Acting
  • Drama Improvisation
  • Film and TV Acting
  • Applying Acting Styles
  • Classical Theatre Performances
  • Contemporary Theatre Performances
  • Developing Voice for the Actor
  • Movement in Performance
  • The Skills of Rehearsing and Performing small and large-scale productions
  • The Historical Context of Performance
  • Audition technique
  • Devised Theatre
Entry Requirements
  • A minimum of four GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
  • For students without a Grade 4, or above, in English and Maths, you will need to resit these qualifications at LMA.
  • Digital audition
Progression Routes

After the Post-16 course, students can progress via many different routes.

The following are examples are what students may go on to do:

  • Study for an acting degree here at LMA or at either a university or a drama school
  • Professional acting work within the theatre, television and film industries
  • ​Performing and teaching after further training
  • ​Theatre in education​

The Post-16 BTEC Extended Diploma in Acting is a two year course that involves the study of a range of acting techniques, performance skills and the theoretical aspects of the art form.
