Sorting out your finances whilst studying for your degree doesn’t need to feel overwhelming. Here’s the key information, kept simple, so you can focus on building your future at LMA.
STUDENT FINANCE MADE SIMPLE
Most UK students can apply for:
A Tuition Fee Loan to cover your course fees
A Maintenance Loan to help with living costs
Apply as early as you can (ideally before May) to avoid delays, but you can still apply later. Use the official Student Finance calculator to see what you’re entitled to.
Student finance is available to full-time and part-time students who meet the eligibility rules for student finance. Your maintenance loan will be paid directly into your bank account by the Student Loans company once you have enrolled and started attending your course, the loan is paid in three termly instalments.

You only start repaying once you’ve graduated and are earning over the repayment threshold (currently £25,000 per year for most students).

Your repayments are based on what you earn, not what you owe. You only repay a percentage of your income above the threshold, not your whole salary. For example, if your repayment threshold is £25,000 and you earn £26,000 a year, you’ll only repay a percentage of the £1,000 above the threshold. That works out to just a few pounds a month.

Not at all. You won’t have to repay until you’re earning enough, and if your income drops below the threshold, your repayments stop. The degree, skills, and opportunities you gain at LMA will stay with you for life.

Yes. Many of our students take on part-time jobs. We recommend fewer than 20 hours per week so you can focus on your course. Local businesses often advertise roles through the LMA app, perfect for flexible work that fits around your studies.
