BA (HONS)MUSICAL THEATRE (Top-Up) OVERVIEW
This one-year Top-Up course is designed for performers who have already developed skills in musical theatre and are ready to refine their abilities and prepare for professional performance.
Building on your existing training in singing, acting, and dance, you will develop your performance technique and explore a range of styles within musical theatre. You will work collaboratively as part of a performance company, gaining experience of rehearsal and production processes that reflect industry practice.
A central feature of the course is participation in a full-scale musical theatre production, allowing you to apply your skills in a live performance setting. Alongside this, you will create a professional showcase that highlights your strengths as a performer and prepares you for auditions and casting opportunities.
You will also develop a professional portfolio and undertake an independent research project linked to your interests within performance or the wider creative industries.
By the end of the course, you will be prepared to progress into professional musical theatre environments with confidence and a strong sense of your artistic identity.

To apply to join the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre (Top-Up), you’ll need to have successfully completed or be in the process of completing a relevant Level 5 qualification, such as a Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or an equivalent course. Your study will need to be in a similar subject area.
You may also be eligible if you’ve completed 240 credits of a BA (Hons) degree in a related subject and are looking to transfer for your final year.
We’ll review your previous study to make sure it aligns with the course, using our Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process. This helps us ensure you’re fully prepared to succeed at Level 6.
You will also need to submit a digital audition - full information about the audition process will be sent to you when you enquire about the course.

You’ll learn how to market yourself professionally through showreels, websites, digital branding, CV writing, and promotional materials. Industry insight sessions and career planning workshops will help you identify your target audience and employment sector while giving you the tools to present yourself confidently to agents, employers, casting directors, and producers across the musical theatre and creative industries.
