BTEC MUSIC PERFORMANCE
COURSE OVERVIEW
BTEC Extended Diploma in Music is a two year course that involves studying and implementing a range of techniques specifically for the music industry. The course acts as a technical foundation so that by the end of their two year study, students will have a sophisticated set of music skills that will enable them to specialise as they move into higher education or into industry. The music course encompasses performance with a level of technical competency for all aspects of performance as a musician.
The Extended Diploma is broadly equivalent to three A Levels. The following subjects make the programme of study:
Using Musical Styles
Creating Musical Material
Performing As An Ensemble
Planning A Career In The Music Industry
Music Skills Development
Solo Personal Project
Using Material For Self Promotion And Networking
Using Creative Collaboration To Develop A Project
Producing A Collaborative Project

Due to our Funding Body restrictions, we can only accept applications for BTEC study from students who live in the North-West region of England. For further information about our eligibility criteria please email our admissions team who can provide further advice and guidance.
A minimum of four GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) to include English (Literature or Language) and Maths.

After the Post-16 course, students can progress via many different routes.
