BA (HONS) DANCE (Top-Up) PERFORMANCE COURSE OVERVIEW

This one-year Top-Up course is designed for dancers who have already completed Level 5 study and are ready to refine their technique, develop their artistic identity, and prepare for professional work within the dance industry.

Building on your existing training, you will focus on advanced performance practice, exploring a range of styles, techniques, and approaches to dance. You will work collaboratively as part of a professional ensemble, experiencing the demands of rehearsal, creative development, and performance in a structured and industry-focused environment.

A central element of the course is participation in a major live performance project, where you will contribute to the creation and delivery of a large-scale production. Alongside this, you will develop your own performance showcase, selecting and refining material that demonstrates your strengths, versatility, and readiness for auditions and employment.

You will also focus on developing your professional identity as a dancer. This includes creating a portfolio that may feature showreels, promotional materials, and digital content, helping you to position yourself within the industry. An independent research project allows you to explore a topic linked to your interests and future career direction.

By the end of the course, you will be prepared to progress into professional dance environments with confidence, technical ability, and a clear sense of your individual style and career goals.
